General Info

Professional Field Guide Training and Wildlife Conservation Experiences. Volunteer options available in association with the Space for Elephants Foundation.

Bhejane Nature Training offers a variety of Courses, and African Wildlife and Adventure experiences such as Professional Field Guide training, Ubuntu Wild African Nature and Culutre experiences, and opportunities to take part in or learn more about elephant reserach activities.

We operate around various camps in the Northern Zululand and Maputaland areas of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. These regions represent some of the most biologically diverse habitats in Southern Africa, and contain 80% of South Africa's remaining forests. A truly magnificent pocket of nature, where you can go Tiger Fishing in the morning, spend an afternoon with the largest elephants in Africa and the rest of the Big 5 at Tembe, enjoy some birding in the world famous Ndumo Game Reserve and visit Leatherback Turtle nesting sites on the beaches of the Elephant Coast after dark.

Bhejane Nature Training is owned and managed by Dylan & Christa Panos. With varied backgrounds in both education and training as well as Field Guiding and Game Reserve Management.

Bhejane, (pronounced Bhe-Jhaan) the Zulu name for the African Black Rhino, has been established with the inspirational history of the Black Rhino in Zululand mind. The dedication, persistence and high standards of the KwaZulu Natal Game Rangers was the driving force behind the successful re-establishment of Black Rhino populations in South Africa. The Black Rhino represents a successful conservation effort, against all odds - led by pure passion and determination of these Game Rangers.

KwaZulu Natal has long enjoyed a reputation for being a leader in conservation on the African Subcontinent. The area is associated with conservation legends such as Jan Oelofse, Nick Steele (Author of Game Ranger on Horse Back) Dr. Ian Player, a pioneer in Rhino conservation.

Become a part of this legacy - let Bhejane Nature Training guide you to find Awareness through Wilderness.

Bhejane Nature Training is a FGASA endorsed training provider.(Field Guides Association of Southern Africa)

Whilst commited to conservation and environmental education, we are also a socially responsible company that works closely with the Space for Elephants Foundation.
We actively seek sponsors to train local community members and also sponsor a limited number or students ourselves for different training courses each year. In fact, every tourist that takes part in one of our Ubuntu Wild programmes by default becomes a sponsor to a local student from the surrounding community.

Courses are led by professional instructors with many years of guiding experience in dangerous game areas. All instructors are legally qualified and registered with the relevant authorities and standards setting bodies in South Africa such as THETA (Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Education and Training Authority, and FGASA (Field Guides Association of South Africa).
