Work as a canoe or kayak instructor on BUNAC’s Summer Camp USA programme – the leading US work and travel experience! Spend nine weeks working with kids aged between 6 and 16 on an American summer camp.

Canoe or Kayak instructors at summer camps spend most of their time on the lake, teaching children the basic techniques, skills and understanding of the sport to ensure their safety and enjoyment on the water. Most children are beginner standard; throughout the camp session you will build on this to enhance their proficiency. Facilities for water sports at camps can vary greatly, but most camps offer good canoe and kayaking equipment with modern apparatus.

After camp, take advantage of the additional 30 days to travel around the USA, Canada and Mexico. Visit beautiful natural landmarks such as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and Niagara Falls, and experience world-class cities including New York, Chicago and San Francisco, to name only a few.

Requirements

BUNAC individually places applicants on summer camps according to their preferences, skills and experience. For the role of canoe or kayak instructor, applicants should be energetic and highly enthusiastic about waterfront activities with experience of working with children in a leadership position. Applicants must also be aged 18 or above.
