Job Description

Work as an outdoor pursuits leader on BUNAC’s Summer Camp USA programme – the leading US work and travel experience! Spend nine weeks working with kids aged between 6 and 16 on an American summer camp.

Outdoor Pursuit leaders’ responsibilities can range from leading an overnight campout in the local area, to a rugged week-long trip in the mountains. Working with groups of children and fellow counsellors, you may be camping, hiking, cooking outdoors and teaching wilderness skills to children in the great outdoors for the summer! Outdoor Pursuit facilities and equipment can vary between camps. Modern tents, extensive camping equipment and vehicles are standard amenities that camp provides to run a successful activity programme.

After camp, take advantage of the additional 30 days to travel around the USA, Canada and Mexico. Visit beautiful natural landmarks such as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and Niagara Falls, and experience world-class cities including New York, Chicago and San Francisco, to name only a few.

Experience Required

BUNAC individually places applicants on summer camps according to their preferences, skills and experience. For the role of outdoor pursuits instructor, applicants should be energetic and highly enthusiastic about outdoor pursuits with experience of working with children in a leadership position. Applicants must also be aged 18 or above.
