Caledonian School offers a TEFL certificate course and a guaranteed EFL job in Prague for those individuals who are looking for an initial 4-week qualification to teach EFL.

The course, conducted in cooperation with Oxford University Press, is offered throughout the year. Caledonian School is an institutional member of the Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language.

The course requires no commitment to the school, but nearly all trainees work for us following the course.

Teachers who successfully complete the course are guaranteed a job with the school. We know of no other language school in Europe which offers a teach-where-you-train TEFL course and provides so much post-course assistance -- including arranging of work permits and residency visas.

Benefits / Salary / Costs

Caledonian teachers earn on a per lesson taught basis. Therefore, the more lessons taught, the more money earnt. Be realistic however; though the Czech Republic has made great strides since 1989, and especially after their accession to the European Union in 2004, the salaries here are still substantially lower than in Western Europe and the USA. Nevertheless, it is important to distinguish between the sum you will earn when converted into your home currency and what the sum in Czech crowns will actually buy you here.
