With internationally recognized medical schools in the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas and across the Caribbean rapidly expanding, increasing numbers of American and European students are seeing the obvious appeal of studying in the sun! A Gap Medics placement will give you a true taste of what that would be like – and some valuable hospital work experience even if you then choose to study back home.

You will be staying in the Gap Medics house with other prospective medical and nursing students all typically between the ages of 17 and 23. Our houses all have a programme manager, a housekeeper, caterer and 24 hour security.

There are lots of reasons to book with Gap Medics:-

As the only UK company to specialise in medical gap year placements and with sister company Work the World successfully providing elective placements for university students for the last 4 years, we’ve proved we know our stuff! limit numbers. There will only be up to 12 students on each programme to ensure you are not working in hospitals overrun with travel volunteers.

Whilst we do provide considerable monetary support to the hospitals, and practice a strong ethical policy that supports local communities, each program is designed specifically so that students can gain genuine experience relevant to university applications and pre-clinical years at university.

- We offer an intensive placement preparation and local orientation so that you are well equipped to cope with living and working in a developing country environment.

- We provide considerable monetary support to all the hospitals we work with.

- We are always available. Gap Medics is approachable and happy to answer questions – we will provide support from the moment gap year students pick up the phone until they return back home. We’re also happy to speak to your parents and answer their questions.v
