Do You Want To Be A Real Help?
Kenya is a leading holiday destination with millions of tourists visiting every year to see the wildlife on display and to relax on one of many stunning beaches the country has to offer. Unfortunately all of the revenue injected in the country doesn't filter its way down to the people that actually need it. There is an alarming rate of children & babies being saved from the streets and taken to orphanages all over the capital. Volunteer help is essential as there are more children being brought in on a daily basis than the centres can physically handle. Come and see for yourself and make a serious change in these unfortunate children's lives.
Why The Need For Volunteers?
In Nairobi alone, there are over 60,000 abandoned children living on the streets. The centres needs all the support it can get from volunteers to battle this rising problem. We are looking for volunteers with a love for children and more specifically nurses, nutritionists, occupational therapists, social workers & child psychologists. Ancillary to these needs the centres are requesting tangible products such as nappies, baby and normal blankets, and food donations.
Volunteers Activities
Volunteers will be working in a variety of different areas and positions. The infant play area is one example of this. This is a very clean and sterile area where the babies spend the day when it is hot and there are clear skies, this protects them and you from the exposure to direct sunlight. The babies are taken care of in this area through cleaning, feeding, washing, nappy changes, playing and they also enjoy the partial sunlight which is important for their growth. The volunteers here are expected to put on protective gear that the home provides for all the workers. The volunteers interact a lot with the babies keeping them entertained throughout the days
Located on some of the sites are also the sleeping quarters where volunteers will be required to put the babies to bed along with looking after and nourishing them when they are ill. This area also contains staff quarters a kitchen and a play room. Volunteers will be kept busy throughout the day as there are a lot of activities to do with the babies to keep them all entertained.
